10 Tips to Enhance Your Social Media Presence

  • 1. Invest in a Good Icon

Be sure to use a square icon which includes your company logo. This icon should be designed so it appears well in a small space such as in the Facebook News Feed; you want to be sure your logo or image is not getting cut off. Consistently use the same icon on Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn and other social media networks so your followers will recognize your posts.
  • 2. Find your Facebook Voice

You should be posting interesting information to start conversations and to regularly show up on News Feeds. If you aren't receiving comments and likes to your Facebook page, you haven't found your voice and most likely others are ignoring your post.
  • 3. Be nice

Be sure to reply and retweet. The more you retweet others the more often you will get retweeted which is the fastest way to gain new followers. When retweeting be smart, don't retweet everything you see as you will bore your audience.
  • 4. Mix it up!

Talk about a variety of things not just yourself or your organization. Be sure to promote others as this will get you retweeted and promoted more often. Provide interesting, valuable content that is retweetable. Soon you will get a sense of the content your followers are interested in as you will get retweeted, likes and comments.
  • 5. Use a ThirdPparty Twitter App

There is a vast majority of free apps which can be used to improve your engagement with your social media networking community. This price tag can be most attractive to non-profit organizations and small business.
  • 6. Use Inspirational Quotes and Powerful Stats.

Others often find these interesting and will retweet or like your statements which of course will help you promote yourself.
  • 7. Launch a Blog

Blogging allows organizations to have a consistent stream of fresh content to post on Twitter and Facebook. Make sure you link to your social networking profiles. Blogging also enhances your SEO which will aid your Google results.
  • 8. Utilize LinkedIn

Pick a group name that people want to join which isn't always your company name. For example, people might not want to join a group called "Green Team" however they might want to join a group titled "Save the Environment". The larger your group means the larger the audience you have to market to.
  • 9. Learn Basic HTML

This is especially important for non-profits as they can easily create "Donate Now" buttons and newsletter sign up boxes to their Facebook and blogs. At agis, we provide "snippets" so no HTML knowledge is required!
  • 10. Have a Mobile-friendly Website

87% of smartphone owners access the internet or email on their handheld devices. With this staggering statistic, organizations without mobile websites or email campaigns are losing exposure to a large number of customers.
